Tomoko Furui gave a lecture to approximately 100 students and PTA members at the human rights class lecture held in the gymnasium of Yakushima Town Gakunan Junior High School. She talked about the importance of recognizing diversity and changing by introducing values from outside, based on the historical facts of interactions between Sidotti and the islanders.
Many of the participants were learning about Sidotti for the first time, and we received many positive comments from the participants, who said that they had a chance to learn about local history.
